I am running excel fro mac 2011 and just downloaded latest software.
When I try and import data I get an err in in Visual basic.
I get this in debugger
Unload ProgressBar
If countriesNotFound(1) <> "" Or countriesNotFound(2) <> "" Then 'add list of headers / countries not found in new worksheet
Sheets("Import names").Select
Range(Cells(12, 1), Cells(Cells.Find("*", SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious).Row, 2)).ClearContents
If I run example CSV file named data then I get following
If countriesNotFound(1) <> "" Or countriesNotFound(2) <> "" Then 'add list of headers / countries not found in new worksheet
Sheets("Import names").Select
Range(Cells(12, 1), Cells(Cells.Find("*", SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlPrevious).Row, 2)).ClearContents
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Hi,
Thanks for the clear error description. This indicates that there is a mismatch between the map area names in the sheet 'import names' of Excel, and the map area names in the data file you are importing. It should normally output a list of map area names which do not match but it appears this did not work. I am looking into it. In the meantime you may wish to verify yourself which map areas do not match in the sheet 'import names' and your data file. Are you using the 'world map' edition, or the 'shapefile map' edition?
Best,
Frank
Frank,
My apologies for not replying sooner. I have been away. I really need to make progress.
I reinstalled the software and tried to remember where I got to.
However now I cannot see a map using the example date . The star planet html opens and says loading settings and no map appears.
Any thoughts?
Kind regards
Hi Tony,
On a Mac you would need to use the desktop application ("StatPlanet Mac") rather than the html file in the web directory, to see the map. The web browser version will run once it has been published online, but cannot be viewed offline in the web browser (or only on a PC). I hope that helps.
Best,
Frank
Thanks for your comments. I checked the country names and ensured they lined up with the names in the spreadsheet. Data imported no problem. I am now using desktop application.

Would you be able to indicate what problem you encountered? Did it import correctly, and did you then click on 'save data'? Was there an error message when opening StatPlanet? Or an error message in the StatPlanet Data Editor? Thank you for any additional details.
Best,
Frank
Data imports good but import data sheet only shows 360760 in indicator second row. No other data is showing. Hope that helps
I just sent you a message for you to potentially share the data file to look into this further. Thanks for your patience.
Frank
It looks like it imported correctly, except for the first country. You just needed to insert an indicator name in the first/top row. After importing, if you click on save data, it should work.
Best,
Frank
The new version of StatPlanet Mac which fixes importing data with unrecognized map area / country names is now available for download here: http://www.statsilk.com/downloads
