1. Is it possible to save multiple reports at one time or do I have to
overwrite the existing data set to start a new map?
2. I would like to share the interactive map with our team. I
have started a google site to do this and uploaded the required web folders.
I can get the map to show only if I run the application within the
site. Is there a way for the map(s) to show on the site without the user
having to run the application?
(using StatPlanet USA maps)
Hi,
You can have as many maps as you like, simply by copy/pasting (making a duplicate) of the StatPlanet folder. StatPlanet requires no installation, so you can place these folders anywhere you like. Please see also: http://www.statsilk.com/support/faq#multiple-versions
Regarding google sites (see also http://www.statsilk.com/support/faq#google-sites), if you mean without running the application, do you mean as a (static) image? Exporting maps requires the licensed version, and export functionality will (probably) not run on Google sites. As an alternative you could try the following:
- Take a screenshot as explained here http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows (you can drag the map legend around to change it's position for the screenshot if needed).
- Paste the image, e.g. in Microsoft Paint
- Crop the image: http://www.wikihow.com/Crop-a-Screenshot-in-Word-2010
I hope that helps,
Frank
Hi Frank,
This is helpful. Thank you.
I would like to have the interactive map show up on my google site for a user when they open the site page. I'm assuming this would require the licensed version based on your response. Is that correct?
Hi,
Do you mean having it on your default/startup page? I'm not sure if that's possible, since in testing it needed to be run through the file StatPlanet.swf. You could just link to the application from the front page? (i.e. have an image/screenshot of the application, and clicking on it takes you to the application). It is not related to whether it is licensed or not. The license only affects whether there is a 'testing message' displayed for StatPlanet Plus, and if you are using the regular StatPlanet no license is required.
Best,
Frank
Hello, I am having a similar challenge to "teachstone" in regard to posting to a google site. I also want to share my interactive maps with a private team through a private google site. I have uploaded the files from the statplanet web folder but getting from this stage to actually having the map on my site is a gap. Can you please explain this last stage for google site publishing of statplanet maps?
Thank you!
Hi,
All the necessary steps are explained here: http://www.statsilk.com/support/faq#google-sites
As explained here the last step is to link to the file StatPlanet.swf (e.g. https://sites.google.com/site/statplanettest/StatPlanet.swf).
You can also link to this file from a web-page, just as you would link to any other web-page. Did the last step not work for you?
Best,
Frank
