Hi, regarding exporting maps as an image what would be optimal size for a regular 14 MS Word document? And is is it better to save it as a JPEG or PNG?

PNG is generally better quality. In the options panel, you can set the dimensions of the exported image. I would suggest the maximum dimensions since the higher the better. The images are produced by the web server and when the dimensions are too high a server time-out can sometimes occur. In this case, the dimensions would need to be reduced a bit to avoid the time-out problem.
