Changing borders

Hello everybody,

Before purchasing StatPlanet, I would like to know if it is possible to adjust borders within a country map (the Netherlands) for municipalities, since there has been a lot of merging of municipalities going on. What I want to do for the timeline: for example if A & B merged in 2012 into C I want to have the data of A & B seperately before 2012, but after 2012 the data of C and will this change be visible on the map? If this is possible then it would be great. In that case, is it easy (and of course accurate) to do so and is there a tutorial?

Thanks in advance,

Tommie van Zanten

Hi Tommie,

That is certainly possible, but requires some map editing work in software other than StatPlanet. If you are using the Shapefile Map version, the following tutorial explains how:

http://www.statsilk.com/maps/merge-multiple-map-layers-single-shapefile-...

The changes in map boundaries and corresponding map values can be visible on the map, if you move from one year to the next.

If you are using the Custom Flash Map version of StatPlanet, the process is the same, but the map editing would be done using the Adobe Flash software. The Custom Flash Map version actually has an example of this included with StatPlanet Plus, in the sub-folder "map_2layers_example".

Best,

Frank
