StatPlanet Lite works locally, but not over the network.

Hi,

I'm having trouble moving StatPlanet Lite from my desktop to a LAMP web server. The software runs well locally, but when I move it to the server and open the StatPlanet.html file, it freezes at the StatPlanet logo and "Loading StatPlanet: 100%."
I've even copied the directory structure out of a newly-downloaded .zip of StatPlanet_Lite into the server's www directory, and I get the same strange behavior, except this time it freezes at "Loading data..."
I am at a complete loss for how to make this work.

Hi,
Are you using the ESRI shapefile version by any chance? In that case the map directory must be copied too, and the software needs to be able to access the map files in that directory. To test this, you could try and access the map files e.g. mywebsite.com/statplanet/map/map.dbf and see if it works (if not you have found your problem, there is no access permission). Otherwise it could be one of the other files for which there is no access permission.
Best,
Frank

My sincere apologies for the delay in response in the forum. The forum was suffering from large amounts of spam and your message was missed.

What could be missing is an indication of where to find the files, if the web-page where you are loading StatPlanet is different from where the files are located (which is generally the case when using a CMS) there should be a reference 'Base' to specify the location of the files, e.g. <param name="base" value="/files/StatPlanet_Plus/Shapefile_map_(ESRI)/web" />

I hope that helps.

Best,

Frank

No luck. I tried the custom shapefile version, and the world and US maps (extracted right from the .zip, keeping the directory structure intact). All the file permissions are set so that they are visible to the web. (I can get to each from a browser.) Still getting the same errors.
I'm trying to demo this as a possible front-end for a large amount of data on the state government's website, but it is difficult to make the case to spend any money if the thing won't work.

...Hmm, thought I had replied to this last week. I've tried all three versions, world, us, and custom maps. Same behavior.
I've checked all the permissions, the directories are wide open.
