The software looks promising but I have hit a pretty basic roadblock. How to open the map.fla file ?? Yes I know the software required is Adobe Flash Player, and I did see a post on this in the archived forum, but it has't helped me I'm afraid. I have Adobe Flash Player installed, but have no idea how to open it to receive the fla file, and also cannot see how to associate fla extensions with Flash Player in File Manager (right click) - Flash Player software is not visible anywhere on my system.
Hi,
To open an "FLA" file you would need the Adobe Flash Professional software which is different from Adobe Flash Player (Adobe Flash Player is only for playing content produced with Adobe Flash Professional or its variants). It's not free software but you can download a trial here: www.adobe.com/go/tryflash. See also http://www.statsilk.com/maps/create-flash-maps
It may not be necessary to create a custom map. If you wish to use a map other than the USA map or World Map which come with StatPlanet, there's the option to load maps in 'shapefile' format directly. See also http://www.statsilk.com/software/statplanet-plus and http://www.statsilk.com/maps/download-free-shapefile-maps.
Best,
