Embedding StatPlanet in a Powerpoint Presentation

Hi Frank,

I would like for the map to be embedded in a Powerpoint slide to be played during a presentation. I know there are several ways to create a link on a website like a Google site and then simply share the link or paste it into the slide. However, since the data is proprietary, it cannot be on any kind of public site or location. Is it possible to do this? If it has to be published online, is it still possible to embed the map into the slide rather than having to interrupt the presentation to click on the link and open it up in a web browser? Thank you for your help!

All the best,

Julie

Hi Julie,

You could link to the offline StatPlanet application, as explained here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/powerpoint-help/start-a-program-during...

I hope that helps.

Frank

Hi Frank,

Is there a way to do embed it in the presentation? Linking the offline StatPlanet application requires opening it outside of PowerPoint. Thanks!

Julie

Hi Julie,
It cannot be embedded in PowerPoint unfortunately. However, for seamless transitions you can use keyboard shortcut ALT+TAB to switch between StatPlanet and PowerPoint. You could also open up StatPlanet before the presentation and use ALT+TAB to immediately switch to StatPlanet. I have done this plenty of times for presentations.

Also in the StatPlanet Data Editor sheet 'settings', there is a variable to set the offline version to open up fullscreen: FULLSCR (set to TRUE).

Hi Frank, Hi Julie,
What do you think about creating like a buttom and insert an hyperlink to link to your map?
I tried it and think it's a good way to swich...
Frank thank you very much you save my life :-)

Hi,
Yes a button linking to the application (StatPlanet.exe) would work as well. Since this is a frequently asked question, here is an FAQ item describing the two approaches:
